), I'm forced to assume you're stuck at the very beginning. So, that means this problem is a great opportunity for you to take all of the individual things you've been learning in your class and synthesize it into a usable form. As you (should) know, the variable
m represents slope, and
b represents the y-intercept in this context. Now, here's a few leading questions to maybe get you thinking on the right track:
What do the variables
x and
y represent in this problem? As a hint, consider that "Cost is a function of Megabytes used." What does the y-intercept signify in terms of a graph? What does it signify algebraically? Based on that, what is the y-intercept in this problem? What does slope signify? As a hint, remember "rise over run." What does "rise" mean? What does "run" mean? What happens to the value of
y if
x increases by one unit? What does that mean about the slope? What equation does that suggest you might form to help you solve the problem?
If you get stuck again, that's alright, but when you reply back, please include any and all work you've done on this problem, even the parts you know for sure are wrong. Thank you.
