Ok, I am in Pre-AP Geometry with a teacher who loves notes and homework but for some reason since I am in Pre-AP teaching does seem to be happening. I have to take the areas provide and use various shapes to draw a house/yard on a regular sheet of paper.

10 ft = 1 cm for the scale dimensions but to find that I have to know the real dimensions. I can't seem to figure out how to get the dimensions of anything beside the rectangles.

ex. livingroom area 3000 sq. ft = 30 ft. by 100 ft. = 3 cm by 10 cm
ex. dining room area 800 sq. ft = 20 ft. by 40 ft = 2 cm by 4 cm

how do I do the same idea with a circle, trapezoid, and kite
circle area is 1500 sq. ft
trapezoid area is 300 sq. ft
kite area is 1500 sq. ft

Ok, I am trying to build a house...I have been given the areas and the shapes I must use but I can't figure out how to get the dimensions?

Trapezoid - area 300 sq. ft.
Circle - area 1500 sq. ft.
Kite - area 1500 sq. ft.
Lacking any information regarding how these shapes might assist in pouring concrete and driving nails, I'm afraid I don't see how the posted values could help one build anything.

Please reply with the full and exact text of the exercise, the complete instructions, and a clear listing of everything you have tried so far.

Thank you.

Eliz.
