idk how to differentiate the following function: f(x)=e^x+x^e , if you could help me out and explain it would be much appreciated everything I've seen so far shows it like a derivative but it says its wrong if I do It like that.

Hello, and welcome to FMH! :)

We are given:

[MATH]f(x)=e^x+x^e[/MATH]
What have you done which is said to be wrong?

Do you understand the difference between an exponential function and a power function? What is your answer to the problem?

\(\displaystyle f'(x)=e^x+ex^{e-1}\)

Just in case your not sure why the derivative of y = eˣ is given by dy/dx = eˣ I have provided some info below:A97149B4-24BC-4164-B841-C359E70DECFD.jpegC29C2043-DCF5-4DF6-86D3-A6AA0B62B31F.jpeg

I presume you know that the derivative of \(\displaystyle x^e\) with respect to x is \(\displaystyle ex^{e-1}\). Do you know the derivative of \(\displaystyle e^x\) with respect to x?
