ok I am clueless on this problem I have tried Purplemath.com, and even googled this problem to find something that can help me figure out how to solve it. My book doesn't help me and I don't know what to do. I am not neccessarily asking for the answer. If someone could help me figure it out then that would be great...

A = P(l + rt) solve the equation for l

Hey babygurl:

This is very straightforward.

Here are the steps so you can do it.

\(\displaystyle A=P(L+rt)\)

Divide by P, then subtract rt, you're done.

Why are you having problems? Quite basic. Here's how you'd do a similar one:

X = Y(a + bc) : solve for a

X = aY + bcY

aY = X - bcY

a = (X - bcY) / Y
