Please let me know if this one is right I can't seem to make this one check so I am thinking I have the problem wrong.

x^2/3 - 2 - 5x = -2

x^2 - 6 - 15x = -6

x^2 - 15x = 0

(x + 3)(x + 5) = 0

x + 3 = 0

x + 5 = 0

x = -3

x = -5

You're Getting There.

Hello latresa31s:

You're okay up to the factorization.

(x + 3)(x + 5) does not equal x^2 - 15x.

Try factoring again.

ok what about this
(x + 3)(x - 5) = x^2 -15x
NO; (x + 3)(x - 5) = x^2 - 2x -15
First, multiply (x - 5) by x: x^2 - 5x
next, multiply (x - 5) by 3: 3x - 15
SO: x^2 - 5x + 3x - 15 = x^2 - 2x - 15 : clear???

Hint: a^2 + na = a(a + n) : apply that to your x^2 - 15x

0k I get it now
the answer is
x(x-15) right

ok we i plug that in the x place I can't see to get it to equal out.

so I do

15^2/3 -2 -5(13) = 2

The orginal problem was x^2/3 - 2 - 5x = -2

just can't seem to get the check to equal out

Gee Lastress, we don't mind helping, BUT you HAVE to start being more CAREFUL;
15^2/3 - 2 - 5(15) : where in **** did you get "13"?
=225/3 - 2 - 75
= 75 - 75 - 2
= -2

Also, x(x-15) = 0
x = 0 or x - 15 = 0
x = 0 or x = 15
In other words, 15 is not the only solution.

hey I'm sorry, I have a problem with numbers I see one number and write another it has something to do with transfer of numbers my i see the number but my brain tells me to write another. I have being doing that all through school. that's why I try to stay away form math class. I always have to double triple check my work. I just didn't do it this time.

I know I stress you guys but I need all the help I can get. to pass this class. I really do appericate all the help you all have given me. I do thank you.

I had figured out the problem.
