4x^2 + 12x - 12 = -2

4x^2 + 12x- 12 = -2
(+12 = +12)
4x^2 + 12x -10 = 0
I am not sure if I have done this one right can you guys put me in the right direction

Hello, latresa31s!

Solve the equation by completing the square.
Completely simplify the answer, expressing any complex mumbers using i notation:

. . . 4x2 + 12x - 12 = -2
We have: .4x2 + 12x .= .10

Divide by 4: .x2 + 3x .= .5/2

Complete the square: .x2 + 3x + 9/4 .= .5/2 + 9/4

Simplify: .(x + 3/2)2 .= .19/4
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ____ . . . . __
Square root: .x + 3/2 .= .±√19/4 .= .±√19/2
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . __ . . . . . . . . . . . __
Finally: . x . = . -3/2 ± √19/2 . = . (-3 ± √19)/2

Don't be. Like I said, the post was just "FYI".

Soroban strikes me as being very nice, and I would rather doubt he was "offended" or anything. :D
