Hi
may someone please help me
the problem is:
A cutting machine produces surgical stainless steel rods for implant which must not be more than 10 cm in lenghth. The mean length of a large batch of rods taken from the machine is found to be 9.98 cm and the standard deviation of these lengths is 0.015cm
the position of the cut can be adjusted w/o altering the standard deviation of the lengths. calculate in cm, to 3 decimal places, how small the mean lengths should be if no more than 2% of the rods are rejected for being longer than 10 cm.
thank you
