sorry im new at this i dont know how to do the integral signs. the top as a 0 and the bottom has a -infinity. then it goes 1/2x-5* dx

im suppose to show if this is convergent or not.

Hmmm, Your description of the integral is ok but I would like to be sure what 1/2x-5* dx
means. Some possibilities are
(1/2)x-5
(1/2)(x-5)
1/(2x)-5
1/(2x-5)
or even 1/(2x^-5)

At the top of the screen there are four buttons. One of them should have a drop down menu with "Karls Notes" and "LaTEX" which are used in typing math.
