How would I answer these questions? For (a) I came up with this answer g(-3x) = 3x(x-1). Is this correct? I need help with (b).

1. Let g(x) = x(to the 2nd power) + x. Find formulas for the following functions. Simplify your answers.

(a) g(-3x)

(b) g(1/(x + 1)

Plug whatever is inside the parentheses in for "x" in the formula. For example, for g(x) = x2 + x, you would have:

. . . . .g(4) = (4)2 + (4) = 16 + 4 = 20

. . . . .g(-2) = (-2)2 + (-2) = 4 - 2 = 2

. . . . .g(#) = (#)2 + (#) = #2 + #

. . . . .g(5@) = (5@)2 + (5@) = 25@2 + 5@

...and so forth.
