help please

x+y=-5[/list]

You've given us the equation

x + y = -5

What are you supposed to do with this equation? We'd like to help you, but I don't want to guess at what you need to do.

Please repost with the directions for your homework.

To find the y-intercept, plug zero in for x, and solve. Draw the dot.

To find the x-intercept, plug zero in for y, and solve. Draw the dot.

To graph from the intercepts, put a ruler against the two dots, and draw the line.

so the anwser is y=0 and x=0
"The answer" to what is "y = 0 and x = 0"? I thought you were supposed to be finding a graph...?

If x and y were to equal 0, that would mean that 0+0=-5. Obviously, it's incorrect. Do you have a textbook? There should be plenty of examples in it explaining how to do these problems as it is pretty standard stuff.

yes but when you solve it
"But when you solve" what?

You have been provided with step-by-step instructions for finding the x- and y-intercepts, and for using them to draw the graph of the line. Please reply with similar level of clarity, outlining what you have tried and how far you have gotten. For instance, you plugging zero in for "x" in the posted equation and got... what value for y? You drew your x- and y-axes and put the first dot... where? And so forth.

Thank you.

Eliz.
