But look this is a total waste of time, unless this is an assignment is some class on the history of calculus.
In the history of mathematics classes it is a valuable exercise, otherwise, it is a pointless exercise.
Can anyone show me a textbook published in the last thirty years that has material of finding a square root by hand.
Soon it will be hard to find a calculus text that includes a chapter on techniques of integration.
When I first heard that at a conference on the future of calculus reform c.1988, I laughed & laughed .
Well now every student has WolframAlpha on his/her phone.
