I do not respond to PMs from "unknown" sender - as a matter of principle.

If the student cannot post the problem in a "public" forum - where the response could help many students - then s/he should hire a private tutor.

That is OK. I too usually do not respond to PMs from unknown sender but this time I did. I learned my lesson.
