help with the a,b,c and form

This is what I have. The teacher wants to know what form I used and what number should go a,b,c through out the problems.

8p-5p+5-p-2
(8-5)p+5-p-2 (form 2)
-5p+8p=3p
3p+5-p-2
(3-1)p+5-2 (form 2)
-p+3p=2p
2p+5-2
5-2=3
Answer 2p+3
She said the form should of been 3

You need to explain what Form 2 and Form 3 are. We do not know these terms, because they are probably specific to a particular text.

Ok, I"ll admit that I'm "boggled" by this question which asks in the subject line about the values of a, b, c and d and then has NO reference to these variables in the "answer choices" provided.

Could you be more specific, please?
