I'm working on a substitution question, however, it's in the form y=mx+b and I'm not sure where to go with it!
Can anyone give me the answer step by step to the question, that way I'll know what to do in the future.

Solve the following linear systems of equations using substitution.
y = 3x + 5
y = 2x + 4

Solve the following linear systems of equations using substitution.
y = 3x + 5
y = 2x + 4

The first equation tells you that "y" is the same thing as "3x + 5".

So, you can replace the "y" in the second equation with "3x + 5":

y = 2x + 4

3x + 5 = 2x + 4

Now, you need to solve that equation to find the value of x which will make it true. When you have that value of x, use it in place of x in the first equation and get the corresponding value of y.

I hope you can complete the problem now. If you're still having trouble, please show us what YOU have done to finish the problem, so that we can determine what additional help you may need.

Honestly, I am still lost... I need a guiding through this problem step-by-step... My course is online, so it's hard to get help when I don't have access to a teacher...
