I have been trying to solve this problem for about an hour now but cannot seem to complete it correctly. This problem begins with the summation of forces about a joint and then from their im supposed to figure out the the vectors or something and use them to figure out the forces within the members themselves. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

External links are not usually a good way to communicate.

Please show us what you did accomplish - and we'll go from there.

First determine the reactions at the supports - (1) and (5). What did you get?

A few hints to get you started:

Support 5 is on a roller, so the reaction there can only be vertical; therefore, all horizontal loads must be reacted at Support 1.

To find the vertical reaction at Support 5, sum the moments about Support 1.

After determining the vertical reaction at 5, sum all the vertical forces to determine the vertical reaction at 1.
