What are you able to do with this? Please post your work.

And you should be able to get n and m by inspection...

I just got the question and fully have no clue what to do. Please can you explain how you would get n and m.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge haha any help is appreciated.

Hi i am stuck because I don't understand where the values of c, n, m and d can be found. I understand thats its given me that second formula to use but I don't understand how to turn the first equation into that formula. Any explanation would be great thanks

This is an example question on a quiz i am just asking how these answers would be found. I don't know how to go about solving it

Have you considered binomial expansion?

Yes I thought that initially but I am confused on how you would do that without knowing the x value

I understand when its a question like (a + b)7 but i don't know how i would do it here .............. edited

Please write (a+b)8 in expanded form.

Then assume b = 1/a and simplify the above.

Then think how is that relevant for your question......

In the expansion of [imath]\left(x+\dfrac{1}{x}\right)^{10}[/imath] looks like [imath]\dbinom{10}{k}x^k\cdot\dfrac{1}{x^{10-k}}[/imath].
What value of [imath]k[/imath] makes the term independent of [imath]x~?[/imath]

Do you know the a value? Is that any different from not knowing the x value?
For the record, they did not have to give you that 2nd equation.
