Can someone show me how to do this word problem, i was away on the day of the lesson and it's the only portion that i don't understand.

The area of a corn field (with a 400m perimeter) can be written as a function of it's width using the following formula: A(w) = w(200-w)

A) Determine the inverse of this area function.
B) What does the inverse represent?
C) Find the width of the field if the area is 8700m^2

Thanks in advance!

Please read the "Read Before Posting" at the top of each subject.

Please show your efforts. We'll be happy to guide and direct.

You'll have to be careful with exactly what it is you mean by an "Inverse".

What does the function mean now, before any Inverse Consideration. I suspect you can just turn the words around and have a good idea what the inverse represents.

Do i expand the area function given, complete the square and then find the inverse of my quadratic equation to find the inverse?
