Okay, I know this is basic for most but for some reason I am struggling with adding and subtraction of fractions. For example :9 3/5- 4 13/15
I know that I need to borrow from the 9. And I know that it becomes 9 9/15- 4 13/15
I just am not comming up with the answer the book has.It said 4 and 11/15 but I am not getting the 11.

Also(-)2 and 3/4+ 4 and 1/2/
I know that the second becomes 4 and 2/4. And because 2 is negitive I thoguht the answer was 2 and 5/4. But the book says 1 and 3/4. I don't know how they get that. What am I going wrong.

Re: Help with fractions

\(\displaystyle 9\frac{9}{15}= 8+1+\frac{9}{15}=8+\frac{15}{15}+\frac{9}{15}=8\frac{24}{15}\)

9 9/15 - 4 13/15 ; same as:
9 + 9/15 - (4 + 13/15)
= 9 + 9/15 - 4 - 13/15
= 9 - 4 + 9/15 - 13/15
= 5 - 4/15
= 4 + 11/15 : kapish?

I'm new to this and I need some help with my fractions. can you please help me?
