help with factoring and multiplying fractions

Hi Kelly:

I'm guessing that your typing is supposed to represent a product of two algebraic ratios. If this is correct, then we need to show this clearly by typing grouping symbols around numerators and denominators.

Also, X and x represent two different variables. If your exercise contains only one variable, then please do not switch back and forth between upper- and lower-case.

Less important: it helps my old, tired eyes when people type spaces around plus, minus, and equal signs.

(x^2 + 18x + 17)/(6x^2 + 13x + 5) * (6x^2 + 7x - 5)/(2x^2 - 2x - 4)

Is this correct? If so, then start with the following.

Factor all of the polynomials.

Cancel common factors.
