1. find limx~4
1\x-1\4 divided by x-4

2. find lim x~5 absolute value x-5 absolute value divided by x-5

3. find the points of discontinuity of the function f(x)=x squared + 1 divided by 2X squared-11X+5

4. graph f(x){ -Xsquared + 3, X<1
{square root X, X greater than or equal to 1
A). lim x~1 negative f(x)
B). lim x~1 positive f(x)
C). is f(x) continuous at x=1?

I'm sorry, but I can't understand your formatting.

What do the back-slashes in (1) mean?

For (2), what is the function? Is it ( |x| - 5 ) / ( x - 5 ), or something else?

For (3), is f(x) equal to x2 + (1/2x2) - 11x + 5, or something else?

For (4), you've got (I think) a piecewise function. Where are you having trouble? You've done the graph, right? How far have you gotten past that?

Thank you.

Eliz.
