Is there a book on Calculus for beginners that doesn't have those really long explanations with 'essays'? I've looked through Tomas' Calculus, Calculus by Stewart, Ron Lars etc. but they are almost identical. I learn best when there are few words and more mathematical language and proofs and relatively challenging problems in the end.

If such a thing exists please help me and mention it in your reply. Thank you!!

Have you looked at Calculus books at:

Schaum's outline series ?

I'm just saying...you may not want to skip the essays, as they can be useful to those who wish to learn a thing well.

Saxon is one of my favorite authors because of his clarity, but some dislike his style, as it can be boring or dull.

But I do agree that said essays can be tedious if one has a grasp already.
