sorry if this is not the place for these 2 problems, i was not sure if they go here or another place the 2 problems are
9/2 x-3/4=7/2 x+5/4 and 11/3 x +1/6=8/3 x +19/6

Are you solving this problem if yes then try to bring the x variables to the left side so your first problem
9/2 x-3/4=7/2 x+5/4

7/2x would be brought over and subtracted form 9/2x which would equal 16/2x. Then the sums to the right side so 3/4 added to 5/4 which equals 8/4. "Remerber that signs change when pasted over.
so your problem now is
19/2x = 8/4
Now how would you divde 8/4 by 19/2 and there is what x equals easy to do with scientific calualator.

Hi Chris:

Here's a good web site with basic lessons.

http://www.purplemath.com/modules/solvelin.htm

This URL puts you on page 1 of 3; if you understand page 1, then click the link for page 2 (Multi-step equations) at the top and see how the equations in your exercise are solved.

If you'd like more help, please show us what you tried or what you're thinking. The more specific you are about why you're stuck, the better the responses you'll get from tutors here.

Cheers,

7/2x would be brought over and subtracted form 9/2x which would equal 16/2x. <----I don't think so!!!Then the sums to the right side so 3/4 added to 5/4 which equals 8/4. "Remerber that signs change when pasted over.

19/2x = 8/4
Now how would you divde 8/4 by 19/2 and there is what x equals easy to do with scientific calualator.

If your first problem is (9/2)x - 3/4 = (7/2)x + 5/4, then your first step might be to subtract (7/2)x from both sides so that you eliminate the "x" term from one side:

(9/2)x - (3/4) - (7/2)x = (7/2)x + (5/4) - (7/2)x

You can combine like terms. (9/2)x - (7/2)x is (2/2)x, or just x, and you'll then have

x - (3/4) = (5/4)

Now...can you finish?

Be sure to check your answer...whatever value you get for x should make the original equation true.

oops forget i didn't make sure to subtract instead of add.
then -(3/4) would be added over to (5/4)
x would equal from the sum.
