The book Shelley is reading has 235 pages. She already read 110 pages. If she reads 25 pages a day from now on,how many more days will it take
her to complete the book?

When you last posted here, what did I tell you was the FIRST thing to do in ANY algebraic word problem?

Do the instructions tell you to model this scenario using an equation or to write a formula?

I don't know what your class is doing right now, but simply dividing the number of remaining pages by the number of pages read-per-day will give you the answer.

Division "undoes" multiplication.

That is, if I told you that I read 50 posts per day for 30 days, then the total number of posts that I read is 50×30=1500.

Now think in reverse. If I were to have told you instead that I need to read 1500 posts AND that I will read 50 posts-per-day, how many days would it take me to read them all?

1500/50 = 30

Likewise, you need to divide the remaining pages to be read by the number of pages read per day.

There are 235 pages in the book and Shelley has already read 110 pages. So how many pages does she have left to read? At 25 pages a day, how many days with that take?

Sometimes we can get confused by all the math. Since there is nothing in the problem that requires you to use math, let's try this.
Here is the story...
Shelley is reading has 235 pages to read next week so that she can write her book report. It is Sunday night and she has only begun. I will begin the list of how much she will read next week. Do this by writing the Page number that she will be on at the end of the day.
Sunday Night Page 110
Monday Night Page 135
Tuesday Night Page 160
Wednesday Night Page ???
Thursday Night Page ???
Friday Night Page ????

Can you complete this list? What day will she finish?
