Thank you for any help.

First step - Isolate 'y' preferably on the left-hand-side of the "=" sign.

Like this?

-6y = -2x + 24

No, like this.

y = something

(Definition of the verb "to isolate": to set or place apart; detach or separate so as to be alone.)

So, isolate the y on the left side of the =?

Like this?

-6y=-2x+24 <----- Not quite

-2x - 6y = 24

-2x - 6y + 2x = 24 + 2x

-6y = 24 + 2x

(-6y)/(-6) = (24 + 2x)/(-6)

y = -(12 + x)/3
