A rectangle with aside 'L' and other side 'W', will have an area A = ?

Draw a rectangle with sides 'L' and 'W'.

What information does the problem about 'L' and 'W("garden is 20 ft longer than it is wide")?

Write it out mathematically. That is your first equation.

What other information is given? Write it out mathematically. That is your second equation.

Please show us what you have tried and exactly where you are stuck.

We can say that the width is W.
The length then would be W+20

Here, we have 2W and 2(W+20)s in the rectangle

Area:
W * (W + 20) = 1125

Factor:
W^2+ 20W = 1125
W^2+20W-1125=0

The quadratic roots:
-45
25

Width cannot be negative, so width = 25ft, length = 45ft

CHECK:
25*45 = 1125
We are done!
