I have know idea how to do this(-25xy/8y)(-8x^2/45x^2y^2).just started with them today and the teacher goes way to fast.

You said "how to do this" - to do what? - simplify, rearrange, ??

Also use grouping symbol to write your expression correctly

You wrote

(-25xy/8y)

Which using PEMDAS means

\(\displaystyle \frac{-25xy}{8}\cdot y\)

but I have a suspicion that you really meant

\(\displaystyle \frac{-25xy}{8y}\)

In that case - you should have written it as (using PEMDAS):

{-25xy/(8y)}

and second part of your expression needs a review - I suspect. If you do not post the correct problem (in correct format) and do not tell us what you we need to do - we cannot help you.

You don't have to post it the "exotic" way Mr Khan did; did you not read his "alternative"?
You can post your (-25xy/8y)(-8x^2/45x^2y^2) this way:
(-25xy / (8y)) (-8x^2 / (45x^2y^2)) ; notice the extra set of brackets to clearly show the DIVISOR.

You have not told us yet WHAT the question is.

To see where you're at:
can you simplify this: 2x^2 y / (xy)
 
its not -25xy.the - is in front of the fraction.I want to know the steps to doing it :D

What I gave you is NOT from your expression: can you simplify this: 2x^2 y / (xy)
Let me change it:
can you simplify 2a^2 b / (ab)
Asking you this so we know what YOU can do; easier to help you then...kapish?
May we ask what grade you're in?

\(\displaystyle = \ \bigg(\frac{-25x}{8}\bigg)\bigg(\frac{-8}{45x^2}\bigg) \ = \ \bigg(\frac{-5}{1}\bigg)\bigg(\frac{-1}{9x}\bigg) \ = \ \frac{5}{9x}, \ x,y \ \ne \ 0.\)
 
I know how to do the fraction,its the variables and exponents that are confusing me
