Mary bought some donuts she gave half of the donuts plus half of a donut to her mother. She gave half of the remaining plus one half to her Aunt, then she gave half of the remaining plus 1 half of a donut to her sister and she has a 1/4 of a dozen left. How many did she buy.

This is puzzling me I keep coming up with different answers. Please help.

ill try

firstly i think u have the problem tpyed incorrectly...
just double check, then i will be able to help

im sorry, i read it wrong, it is typed correct( see thats what happens when u dont read carefuly.. silyy mistakes)

anyway,

to figure this out.. .what is 1/4 of a dozen? dozen = 12 1/4 of 12 is 3
now, she gave her sister half of the remaining and a half

ok
so (here, in this problem, u have to work backwards) wat is three doubled? (ur doubling b/c u subtracted before, took away)
three doubled is 6
then mary gave a half...
so now we have 6 and 1/2 donuts

next, mary gave her aunt half of the remaining and a half...
so. work backward again...
(this time i wont help)

do the same for when mary gave her mother...
when u get the answer reply...
and also any questions plz reply
hope u get it now  :D
