I am having trouble understanding how to divide 63/1.40????? By hand!

ABSOLUTELY FIRST - Estimate it.
63 / 1 = 63
63 / 2 = 31ish
1.4 is less than half way from 1 to 2, so a really rough estimate might be 49ish
Whatever you do, if you get 365, something bad happened. If you get -3, something went horribly wrong.
