my question is i have to write a equation in the form y=mx+b but the problem im on is {has a slope of 2/3 and passes through thep point (12,3)} so far i have y=2/3x+b
3=2/3(12)+b i still need to find (b)

"from" is not the correct word, here.

You need to use the word "of", instead.

"2/3 from 12" implies subtraction, as in "12 - 2/3".

"2/3 of 12" implies multiplication, as in "2/3 * 12".

To multiply 12 by 2/3, remember that all whole numbers can be written as fractions with 1 as the denominator.

(2/3) * (12/1)

To multiply two fractions, we multiply numerator times numerator and denominator times denominator.

(2 * 12) / (3 * 1) = 24/3

If you've memorized your multiplication table, then you should recognize that 3 goes into 12 evenly.

24/3 = 8

Now your equation looks like the following.

3 = 8 + b
