Is this what you want?

You can download the above example Excel file which is attached as (ostensibly) a text file because Excel files cannot be attached to posts in this forum. Once downloaded you need to change the filename from: "3 digit splitter.txt" to "3 digit splitter.xlsx", ie: change the extension from .txt to .xlsx.

Hmmm, 🤔

I've only just noticed the "56" (that I have coloured red in your post, above).

I thought you just wanted to split the 3 digit number into its first two digits and its last two but I don't understand what you are trying to do to get the 56. 🤷‍♂️

So I guess my proposed solution won't be any use to you after all.
(Though it could be quite simply extended* to return the first and third digits together in a further column but I simply don't understand what you are trying to achieve now. 🙁)

What are the "RULES" of this splittings?
Does NOT look-like you want to choose 2 numbers out-of 3.
Please be explicit!!

In newer version of Excel 2021+, this will return all 3.
Code:
=REPLACE(A1,{3,1,2},1,"")

In older versions, use Ctrl+Shift+Enter to render array formulas.
