the value,v, of a shopkeeper's inventory software program is given by v=-1/2t+3, where t is the number of years since the shopkeeper bought the program. what is the program worth 6 years after it is first purchased?
Plot the point with the given t value,6
After 6 years, the program is worth $0

After how many years is the value of the software $1

First, remember to use parentheses to clarify meaning. 1/2t is NOT the same as (1/2)t. You mean the latter.

Where are you not getting the idea? -(1/2)6 + 3 = -3+3 = 0 -- Don't worry about this. One, it's jsut a model and two, purhase can produce negative value in the beginning. It costs something to buy it.

When will it be 1? -(1/2)*t + 3 = 1 -- Solve for t.
