All of my math homework is online and does not label the problems that are assigned. I need help figuring out what problems that look like this ex:

are called and how to solve them. I am confused and have no idea how to research how to do this assignment without knowing the name of this type of problem. Thank you so much.

Research? Does your course not provide lessons and examples?

Look up "FOIL" and "combine like-terms" to simplify this expression.

Look up "quadratic equation", to solve for p.

Look up "difference of squares", to factor this expression.

Again, the FOIL algorithm can be used to multiply-out (i.e., expand) the left-hand side; this is another quadratic equation.

Did they really give you -0x as one of the terms on the right-hand side? That's not normal.
