Guys I have a horrible teacher and we have a book but we do not understand. We have accelerated math that prints out a problem and 4 answers but no explaniations as to how these problems are to be approached.

f(x)=5x-1 find f(x)-f(a)/x-a, if x not equal to a

I am not sure how to type all this in either sorry

i) What is f(x)? Write that down.

ii) What is f(a)? Write that down.

iii) Subtract (ii) from (i), and simplify.

iv) Factor the result of (iii).

v) Divide by x - a, and cancel.

If you get stuck, please reply showing how far you got in following the steps. Thank you! :D

Let's certainly blame this on a "horrible teacher."
