I'm having trouble finding the formula that is relevant to this problem that I'm having. I'm trying to convert certain units into others. That is theoretical labeling and isn't applied to the real world.

1 wood = 4 stone
5 stone = 1 coal

How can I easily find out how many wood it takes to equal 1 coal?

1 wood = x stone
y stone = 1 coal

1 coal = y/x wood

kingwithnosoul,

look at this among alternatives, if you would like, as well as also finding a formula (which you originally wanted):

\(\displaystyle \frac{1\ coal}{1} \cdot \frac{5 \ stone}{1 \ coal} \cdot \frac {1 \ wood}{4 \ stone} = \frac{5 \ wood}{4} = 1.25 \ wood\)
