i need to find the formulas for f and g..

I know i have to go in reverse but can someone help me out more?

Bad problem statement. You should be finding "formulas for f and g", not "THE formulas for f and g". (Emphasis added) Though there may be obvious choices, it is unlikely they are the ONLY choices.

Obvious
f(x) = sqrt(x)
g(x) = x^6 - 2x

Other
f(x) = sqrt(x^6-2x)
g(x) = x

There are other possibilities.
