HELP: “Express Perimeter of Triangle ABC in terms of X”

AB = (3x + 4)cm, BC = (4x - 5)cm, and CA = (x + 13)cm

Giving me sum of two sides versus one is throwing me off!

If the triangle in question is ABC then:

Perimeter of ABC = AB + BC + CA = (3x + 4) + (4x - 5) + (x + 13) ..... continue

Can you explain in more detail what you're trying to say here? They have not given any sums in this exercise, that I can see. They want you to sum the three sides (starting by writing out the sum, as Subhotosh showed) and then simplify the result.

If you're still confused, please explain why and show what you tried. Thanks! :cool:
