Find the centroid of the area bounded by the
following lines: x=1, x=5, y=1, y=x^2.
Partial Answer: xbar=3.?5 and ybar=?.31, where you figure out what
digit values each “?” stands for.

I stuck on this problem and I could not find any clues from google or textbook. Please give me some hints or help me to figure it out.

I appreciate everyone helps a lot.

My big thanks and warm Regards.

Do you know how to find the area of a region - bounded by given curves (lines)?

Please share your work with us, indicating exactly where you are stuck - so that we may know where to begin to help you.

Area of a region, R, is given by \(\displaystyle \int_R\int dA\). Can you set up that integral?

\(\displaystyle \overline{x}= \frac{\int_R\int x dA}{\int_R\int dA}\)
and
\(\displaystyle \overline{y}= \frac{\int_R\int y dA}{\int_R\int dA}\)
Can you set up those integrals?
