The initial velocity of the stream of the water is 48 feet per second. The velocity v of the water at any time t (in seconds) is given by v=48-32t. Find the time for a drop of water to travel from the base to the maximum height of the fountain. (Hint: The maximum height is reached when v=0.)

D=rt, therefore D/r=t
Does v[1]-v[2] help solve the problem? (I hope I subcripted correctly.)

v = 48 - 32t

now, use the hint ...

0 = 48 - 32t

solve for t
