I need help. I am working on this problem with someone else and he gets the opposite answer of what I get:

x^2+20-y^2-7x-2y+21-8x+6y-2=2-4y-5x-2y^2

x^2-10x+y^2+8y=-37

(x^2-10x+25)+(y^2+8y+16)=-37+41=4

(x-5)^2+(y+4)^2=4

I get (5,- 4)

But he gets (-5,4)

Am I missing something??

You are missing a problem statement.

Perhaps we're finding the center of the circle?

x - 5 = 0 ==> x = 5
y + 4 = 0 ==> y = -4

You ARE in the calculus forum. You should have more confidence in your algebra. You should also recognize when you already have the answer. You have the answer correct and I told you the answer. Why do you still have doubt?
