Don't understand how to set this up - can someone help me?

Graph the inequality Y < 1/2X - 2 on the grid.

We can't see whatever picture you're looking at, so you'll have to explain what "the grid" is and how you're supposed to be using it.

Thank you.

Eliz.

Hello, stiggs8!

Graph the inequality \(\displaystyle y\:<\:\frac{1}{2}x\,-\,2\)
First: graph the equation: \(\displaystyle \,y\:=\:\frac{1}{2}x\,-\,2\)
. . Use your favorite method, and draw a <u>dotted</u> line.
Code:
          |         /::::
          |       /::::::
          |     /::::::::
    ------+---/:-:-:-:-:-
          | /::::::::::::
          /::::::::::::::
        /::::::::::::::::
      /::::::::::::::::::
Since the inequality is "less than", shade the region below the dotted line.

If the inequality had been \(\displaystyle \leq\), less than or equal to,
. . the line would be included; we'd draw a solid line.
