I was absolutely taken aback by this negative result. Almost fifty years ago, I had just finish a six straight year study taking a PhD. I was burned out, my wife was headed to the University of Manchester, U.K., school of education as a Fulbright in art education. So I joined her and took up the study of the analytic philosophy of religion with David Palian. But to keep one foot in mathematics I taught myself knot theory. I remember working on the Conway Knot Problem. I am completely stunned at the negative result. I could not tell from these notices if John lived long enough to see the result?
