I am very confused!! The question is:

triangle ABC ~ triangle KLM. AB = 8 cm and KL = 10 cm. The area of triangle KLM is 40 cm squared. Find the area of triangle ABC.

How are you supposed to find the area when only given one side and no angles????

Thanks.

You do know that the triangles are similar.
The elements are proportional.
In fact given the two sides, the two areas are:
\(\displaystyle \L
\frac{{A_1 }}{{A_2 }} = \frac{{\left( 8 \right)^2 }}{{\left( {10} \right)^2 }}\).

"There are 10 kinds of people: those who understand the binary numbers and those who don’t."

Noooooo; that should be:
There are 1010-8 kinds of people: those who understand the binary numbers and those who don’t.
