Hi,

Given: 1 side of triangle (not right angle) and the length difference between the other 2 sides.
my question: can I calculate the the triangle sides by knowing the length of one side and the difference between the other 2 sides?

for example:

Triangle sides = A B C
A = is known
B = C + x (x = the difference between B & C)

what is the equation f(x) = ?

thanks,

Have you considered that one definition of a hyperbola is "the set of all points P such that the difference between their distances to a pair of given points F1 and F2 (the foci) is a constant"? Do you see the implication?

Your question about f(x) makes no sense, as you have said nothing about what it is supposed to be!
