Help, I understand my geometry test, but whenever I do the questions i get half of them wrong should I take the test tomorrow?

Your question is: "Should I take the test tomorrow?"

You have a choice? If you have a choice, then my answer is no; you should not take the test tomorrow.

You need time to chat up your teacher to find out what your problem is.

It seems to me that you asked about whether or not you should take a test, but you're really wondering why you miss half of the quesions.

Are you sure that you understand all of the questions on your tests?

Gosh, what are some possible factors, for somebody who understands all of the questions?

You suffer from some type of severe psychological math anxiety, and your brain seizes to a much greater extent than do the brains of people who suffer from normal math anxiety.

You go through the steps properly, but you're sloppy with arithmetic.

You can't think ahead. You understand only in hindsight.

You don't pay attention to the types of mistakes that you make after they are explained to you so that you can double-check your work as you carry on with those steps in future exercises.

If truth be told, you don't really care enough to do your best.

Your home environment is a disaster, or other major stress.

Gosh, it could be some combination of any or all of these, or not.

If speaking with your instructor goes nowhere, then seek counseling from your school because you need evaluation by people trained to discover what your problem is.

Actually, maybe 50% is close to normal in your school district. Two years ago, it was anticipated that nearly 50% of high school seniors in the state of Washington could not graduate from high school, so an emergency session was called to change state law to accomodate them.

If you feel that my post is of no help, then give me an example of what is it that you expected to get from this website by asking whether or not you should take your test tomorrow?

Re: Geometry Test REPLY ASAP

I freak out over test i wan't to get such great grades and i freak out on the test, my test i took i failed but my teacher's letting me retaking it, how can i stop freaking out and get good grades in geometry, I do all my homework and in 2 night's studied for 5 hours and still failed another test what do you think is wrong? what should i do , i work so hard and try to not stress out but it's just like it's impossible to not fail it unless i know it by heart backwards and forwards! HELP!

Not much can be done at a site like this one.
What grade are you in?
Can you give us a sample problem from your test?

I have to give Theorem's like parallel lines, corrsponding angles are congruent
or substitution and things like that , i'm just really bad at doing proffs any way to remember them?

Yes - there is - but you won't like it.

Practice/review everyday - for 30 minutes - till the theorems are tatooed in your brain - you can repeat those first thing when you get up in the morning.

Studying for 10 hours the day before exam - might work for history or social studies - does not work for mathematics. It will be much more useful if spreadout those ten hours over 20 days (1/2 hour each day).

You can always tatoo a couple on your wrist...under your watch...
or write a couple on the inside of a stick of gum wrapper...if they let you chew gum during the test...

I retook the test and Got a C plus which is good for geometry. But I've been noticing that when i study for test a lot of the time I will have been so busy that I skipeed assignments here and there. and then i try to learn all the lessons i didn't do my h.w. on and all the other lessons.

When I studied for the test i didn't do it all in one night so i think that helped, and i acutally am understanding proofs, and my lessons i get most of all my h.w. questions right

how can i keep improving in math though? I do my h.w. every single night, should i start looking over the other lessons just to keep on refreshing my memory?

Next year I am going to take Advanced Algebra and College Algebra so how can i prepare for those?

Also I have gotten a tutor one of my friends and she's been helping me here and there which helps! Is there any cd programs or is it best to just keep reviewing over the summer?

Also when i took the test I understood the information and wehn i started to re study things started clicking, and i asked my friends a lot of questions to on things. But do you think just relaxing more on the test could of made me do better

I used to hate geometry and know i love it! I want to work in the medical field when i get older so I need to be excellent at math, i enjoy math and am starting to find it easy for once but should i take pre-calc at least before i go to pre med?

What are some good things that help your brain in math, other than doing math ?

Thanks

Any mental activity that challenges your mind improves brain function.

Do crossword puzzles. When you get good at it, switch to something else. Do Sudoku puzzles. Do brain-teaser puzzles. All it takes is 15 minutes a day of challenging mental activity to improve brain function.

Take care of your brain.

Eat foods that are good for your brain. Do you know? Our brain is about 60% fat. (The next time somebody calls you a fat head, say thank you.) Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids will serve your brain well. Foods with antioxidants are also important. I like almonds, walnuts, avacados, blueberries, acai juice, oatmeal, salmon, tuna, oranges, broccoli, kale, spinach, yogurt, flaxseed. You can google keywords "good brain food" for more information.

Take care of your brain.

Do you know? Everytime you see, hear, feel, taste, or smell something new, hundreds to thousands of new connections are formed in your brain between dozens of individual cells. (Some individual brain cells have finerlike connections to more than 125,000 different brain cells.) These new connections are not stable. Your brain must solidify these new connections while you sleep. Get as close to eight hours of good sleep every 24 hours as possible (not less, not more).

Take care of your brain.

Regular exercise is crucial to improving brain function. If you can increase your heartrate for 20-30 minutes at least three times per week, then you will flood your brain with extra oxygen. With extra oxygen perfusing your brain tissue, both maintenance and function improve. Increased bloodflow also removes more toxins and waste from brain cells.

Take care of your brain.

If you smoke, then quit. Smokers turn their brain tissue to mush.

If you drink, then cut back. Two or three alcoholic beverages per week should be your absolute maximum.

If you use recreational drugs, then get help. Dynamic brain scans prove that drug use shuts down large areas of the brain. Once damaged by drug use, many of these areas never restart.

Take care of your brain, and your math skills will improve.

I realize that you asked about things not having to do with actually doing math, but I'm going to tell you the following, anyway.

Do as much extra homework that your free time allows. In other words, when you've finished your daily homework assignment, don't stop. Do as many extra problems that you can.

Did I mention? Take care of your brain!
