A polygon is cut out of paper, and then folded in two along a straight line, forming the outline of a new polygon. Show that the perimeter of the new polygon formed is less than the original polygon.

Consider that when you fold the paper, the fold line intersects the original polygon perimeter at two points. The fold line represents the shortest distance between those two points -- shorter than following the edge of the original polygon.
