Hello, so ive been studying for the ged, and have taken the new practice exam online. But am still having problems with some things.
The new ged tests are all on computer no paper, and are a lot more difficult then they used to be.

so when i did this problem, i couldnt even find the answer i came up with.

normally i would do it this way but the factors of +10 and +9 cant be 1 or 10.
2x/\2+9x=-5

2x/\2+9x+5=0
2x/\2+9x+10=0

I would just like some help in how to solve this.

Another question i wanted help on is this one.

Thanks everyone.

solution of equation a*x^2 + b*x + c = 0 is (-b +- squareRoot(b^2 -4*a*c))/2*a

Use solution to quadratic equation. It should be explained in your text-book or use Google to find more info.

If you still have trouble - come back and tell us where you are getting stuck.

Thanks Subhotosh Khan cant believe i missed one of the methods to solve a quadratic.

I just want go over how i went thru my first problem using the new method.
I am still having a little trouble, am not sure what my next step would be.

x=-2 (-+)√81-4(2)(5) Divide by 4

x=-2 (-+)√81-40 divide by 4

x=-2 (-+)√41 divide by 4

I want to make sure i am doing it right, and what to do next.

Thank You

\(\displaystyle x_{1,2} = \dfrac{-9 \pm \sqrt{9^2 - 4*2*5}}{2*2}\)

My mistake Subhotosh Khan. Thanks for that correction.

So is this the final answer, i notice this is one of the answers available to pick from.
But can it be broken down even more or solved further?

Thank You

x=-9 (-+)√41 divide by 4
