I am supposed to prove that -6=y^2-5y is not a function by solving for y and I know the answers are
y=2 or y=3 but I don't know how they got there. Can someone help me please?

Have you met the quadratic formula? If you cannot remember how to factor, you may need it.

If you CAN manage to factor, factor this: y^2 - 5y + 6 = 0
