In the following problem, I'm to find the inverse function of f. Then sketch the graphs of f and f(inverse) on the same coordinate axes.

The function given is f(x)=x^3+1. I gave the inverse function as f(inverse)(x)=3sqrt(x-1) - a cubed root.

I know how to plug into calculator and graph but don't know how to sketch. Can you explain?

Re: Functions

Here what I get. fi is f inverse.

So what you did was just put equations into the calculator? The way the problem was worded I thought I was supposed to somehow know how to sketch the form of the graph without using the calculator.

So graph f(x), and then switch the x- and y-values that you plotted for f(x). These are points on f[sup:1sq9prdm]-1[/sup:1sq9prdm](x). Then draw the graph!
