Guys I am working on a worksheet and it does have the calc formulas on it. I already sold my book to another student, does anyone know where I can find the formula for this problem online? Thanks.

Billy

The design of an electric power generating station depends on both the peak and the average power that it must produce. If a community uses 168 + 72t - 3t2 megawatts at time t (in hours) during the period t = 0 to t = 24, find the average level of power consumption for that day.

Hi, Billy,

Just integrate to find the area under the curve, then divide by the difference in your limits of integration: area/(b-a), or in this case, area/(24-0). This will give you the avg pwr consumption.
