for the given functions f and g, find the following and state the domain for each result.

f(x)=5x+3; g(x)=9x+5

a) (f-g) (x)= 5x+3-(9x+5)
= 5x+3-(9x+5)
x=+7

b) f/g(x)= 5x+3/9x+5

i got this far not sure how to proceed

for the given functions f and g, find the following and state the domain for each result.

f(x) = 5x + 3

g(x) = 9x + 5

a) (f-g)(x) = 5x + 3 - (9x + 5)

= 5x + 3 - (9x + 5)

This is a good start, but you're not done because your result may be simplified.

Subtracting the expression (9x + 5) means that each term inside the parentheses is subtracted from 5x + 3:

5x + 3 - 9x - 5

Now simplify.

What is that? Your domain statement?

b) (f/g)(x) = (5x + 3)/(9x + 5)

That is correct, but you must include the grouping symbols when texting these types of algebraic ratios; without them, your typing on the right-hand side means this:

\(\displaystyle 5x + \frac{3}{9x} + 5\)

Now, what have you learned about the domain of a function?

Cheers
